In Memory of Ken

Most people won't know who Ken was. He didn't make millions by playing sports or discovering the cure for some disease. He wasn't a politician or community leader. He led a quiet life. Served his country in the United States Air Force until he found out he had cancer. He was medically discharged and battled a terrible disease for around 11 years. To look at him from the outside you would never know he was as sick as he was. He never used his cancer as an excuse. He loved his wife, Veronica, and his three amazing children - Chance, Autumn, and Kendall. While Veronica worked and went to nursing school he took care of the house, paid the bills...he was "Mr. Mom." This past Monday night Ken's battle with cancer came to an end. As I prepare to preach his funeral on Tuesday I have thought about him quit a bit. I hope I never have to face the battles he faced, but if I do, I pray I can face it with the same determination, strength, and courage that he did. Last week the family came to the beach to spend a couple of days with us. We took the time to take some family pictures, never knowing that he was beginning his last week of life. The picture below is one of my favorites from our time together.

Circle B Ranch - Lakeland (B)

Ok...don't want to leave Laura out! My favorite picture was one she did not care for (but her mom agreed with me). The fact that Laura got back into high grass for this shot was a laugh in itself! This other shot was one of my favorites with a "rusty" finish to it. Congrats Laura - class of 2011!

Circle B Ranch - Lakeland (A)

My first "on site" photo shoot was at Circle B Ranch in South Lakeland. I had two great girls to help and we had a blast! One of my favorite pictures was my "Floating Picture Frame" Picture. This was actually two pictures that I combined to give the idea that Victoria is looking "into this world." Victoria's favorite picture was on the boardwalk with her bright red shoes!! Thanks Victoria!
